First
Wave of Progressive House Builders Join the Viridian Solar Partnership
September
30th 2003, Cambridge UK. The first solar thermal system designed specifically
for the needs of the building industry moved a step closer today. Viridian
announced that three forward-looking organisations had joined its Solar
Partnership.
The Partners
will participate in the definition and design of a new kind of solar
hot water system, one that aims to overcome the disadvantages of current
solar water heating technologies – principally their cost.
“We
are delighted that Hastoe Housing Association and Countryside Properties
Ltd. have decided to work with us in our quest to make solar hot water
systems a commercial reality,” said Martin Davies, Chairman of
Viridian. “I am confident that we will find more organisations
from the building industry with a similar interest in the environmental
performance of their products.”
Viridian
is seeking up to ten partner organisations to provide a diverse range
of views as an input into the specification and development of the new
solar system.
Stuart Elmes,
Chief Executive of Viridian commented: “We look forward to working
alongside these leaders in the sustainable development of housing. Their
enthusiasm for the project has been uplifting, and their influence on
the design will be extremely important to its future success.”
